My daily habit as an experience designer and project leader varies a lot from day to day, and I like that, but still there are some habits, it looks something like this.
A soft start is best for me. I am an evening person and get lots of inspiration the later in the day and night I go. Coffee and a sandwich, along with a small cookie, are the most I could eat early in the morning.
Then I go through what I’ve planned for the day. As a project leader, I want to decide my goals for the day and also get a sense of the status of the team’s goals for the week.
I often dedicate part of my day to producing deliverables for my projects, like today’s work on a needs analysis involving inquiries and interviews. Other tasks might include writing a status report or creating a presentation for the project owner and client. (For example in recent weeks, I’ve completed a budget, a stakeholder analysis, a project kick-off, a vision workshop, a project plan, and planned an inquiry and an event to gather user needs. All of this has been incredibly rewarding and fun teamwork.)
At some point each day, I go through my communications—chats or emails that need responses or information I need to send to initiate action. As a leader in a project, I must ensure stakeholders and project teams are well-informed.
I always end my day by looking ahead to tomorrow to ensure I’m on the right path. I also check if I managed to complete the day’s tasks.
This is a very simplified description of the day. I use many tools and methods for planning and leading experience designand design thinking projects. Join the blog community for hands-on tips and fun challenges!
Regardless of one’s habits, what I’ve learned most from years as a project leader and developer is the critical need for work-life balance. Creativity and problem-solving thrive on relaxed minds, not stressed-out ones. 😊🙌
